The New 2021 Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback has one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in its class. But not only are customers happy with it, it consistently gets high ratings from organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which rated the new 2021 Outback a Top Safety Pick+. If you're wondering "Should I buy a 2021 Subaru Outback?" read on. We're going to look at important things to know and why you should come to see us at Hudiburg Subaru for your new Outback.

Go-Anywhere Performance
Subaru's BOXER engine powers all models of the 2021 Outback but there are two versions of the engine available:
  • 182 horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder
  • 260 horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder
The non-turbocharged version is standard, with the higher horsepower turbocharged version available on some trim levels. We'll cover the trim levels in more detail shortly. The turbocharged BOXER engine also features Subaru's auto start-stop technology to help maximize fuel efficiency.

Great Handling On Any Surface
All models of the new 2021 Outback feature 8.7 inches of ground clearance. This gives them enough clearance to go virtually anywhere, on- or off-road. And while the Outback can take you on all kinds of off-road adventures, you won't sacrifice comfort and handling on the highway or driving around town. The new 2021 Outback also comes standard with a symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. The AWD feature comes in handy in all kinds of situations, whether it's wet or snowy roads or muddy back road trails.

Comfortable Interior and Roomy Storage
The Outback's interior provides plenty of room for five adults, with a spacious, comfortable back seat. It offers more passenger room than similar vehicles from the competition. The available DriverFocus system can recognize different drivers and adjust to suit their preferences automatically. Things like seat adjustments, climate control settings, and side mirror settings can all adjust without the driver having to do a thing. The new 2021 Outback has 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with the seats up and 75.7 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. This lets you pack a lot of gear in the back, whether it's for your kids' weekend sports or spending a few days in the woods.

Industry-Leading Safety Features
Subaru is well-known for the safety of its vehicles and the new 2021 Outback continues that tradition with several high-tech safety features.

EyeSight Driver Assist System
The standard EyeSight Driver Assist system can reduce injuries from rear-end crashes by up to 85 percent, according to IIHS data. It monitors the traffic around you and gives you a warning if you start to leave your lane unintentionally. The pre-collision automatic braking will bring you to a full stop in an emergency. EyeSight also features adaptive cruise control with lane entering which helps manage the steering, throttle, and braking. This feature is helpful on both short trips around town and long road trips.

DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System
The available DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation system helps reduce the chance of being distracted while you're driving. It gives you an alert if it notices you becoming drowsy or getting distracted by something other than the road ahead of you. All Outback models also come standard with blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alerts, and automatic reverse braking to help you maintain awareness of what's going on around you on the road.
